The demon stared at Taichiji for a moment before lumbering to its feet. It stuck out its head and sniffed him, then turned away and sniffed the air, looking for the boy.
The boy quickly ducked behind Yanku's leg with a whimper, shivering uncontrollably, and the twins went tense but didn't draw their weapons.

Taichiji though[how is it again that people befriend animals? I've befriended stray cats in the past..].
'Inmu, can you please ask the boy his name? I have an idea.. but it might only work with Chitori.'

Inmu nodded, having an idea what Taichiji was getting at, and bent down to the boy's level.
"What is your name, child?" he asked him, calmly, but the boy shook his head, too terrified to speak.
"It's alright," Yanku said comfortingly, "Don't be afraid."
"...M-m-my name is Akihito," the boy stuttered, not removing himself from Yanku's pant leg, "Please don't let the monster g-get me, I'll do anything, please!"

Taichiji smiled kindly at the boy.
'I don't think he'll hurt you, but you have to show him you aren't afraid. I think i can get his to listen to me now. he's been hurt a loong time, but I think he's a bit calmer now anyway.'
He looked to the lion.
"Chitori, this is a friend of ours. His name is Akihito. I'm sure he can be friends with you too, if your kind to him. Now, Akihito this is going to be a big step for you, but I think you can do it. have you ever had a dog before?.'

Akihito nodded and Chitori made a quiet rumbling in his throat, his tail swishing gently behind him. Despite everything, Chitori liked children. He wanted to be around them and to be their friend but...the lights...were...going...to...go out.
Without the energy the darkness would close in and then...
Chitori whined and Akihito peeked out from behind Yanku's leg.
The twins looked at each other. They knew what Taichiji was trying to do but if Chitori happened to revert at the wrong time then they would all be in danger. Inmu stood up, but both he and Yanku tried to remain relaxed. There was no sense in aggravating the demon or worrying Akihito. They would simply have to wait.

Taichiji looked to the komainu seriously.
"I know you can understand chitori. I'm here to help the light stay. And hopefully people will come back then. but you will have to trust us.. ALL of us. Now, will you be good if I unhitch the last wire so you can move?'
He awaited some sort of response. He knew time was slim and he could hear something coming and his get ached from fear, but it was imperative that everyone keep calm and silent. In this case, Taichiji did the only thing that popped immediately into his mind. He spoke kindly to chitori.
"Ok boy, I'm gonna nee you to pretend to be asleep. Can you do that?'

Chitori nodded and laid down.
In the distance a small bell rang and the twins tensed but they didn't move. Not yet, give it time, not yet.

The atmosphere was the most tense he'd felt in ages, but he had to keep his nerve for everyone's sake and for the same of both of his missions.
'Good boy. I'll untangled that cord good for you soon, if you help do this first fella.' He rubbed the giant creatures belly. it certainly smelled just like a dog, which for Taichiji was VERY helpful as he had a dog himself at home and thiscalmed his nerves some. He whispered as quietly as he could to the twins.
' A bell?.. A mell made you that tense?....' He went wide-eyed for a moment, hoping for all of thier sakes the dog couldn't sense his emotions at the moment.

Akihito, seeing the way the Taichiji was rubbing Chitori's belly and not being eaten, slowly let go of Yanku and moved closer to the demon. Carefully, he stretched out his hand and laid his smaller shaking hand next to Taichiji's. Chitori rumbled gently again and swished his tail faster.
Yanku came up behind Taichiji.
"Oshira-sama may be coming," he whispered, "If it finds out what's happened to Chitori..."
Inmu drew his sword as the gentle ringing grew closer.

'I'll stay here... if 'she' finds only me here and not you... we may be safe. Akihito, you'll have to move to where the twins are right now. I'm going to let go of the knot in his back cord.'
He looked to the twins as to say 'be ready, just incase', but otherwise continued to to pet chitori and attempted to stay as calm as possible.
'Ok boy, I'm going to let go of the knot and unkink if for you. I bet you'll like that won't ya?' And he set to undoing the knotted cord, smoothing out the kinks.
"there you go boy! All mended. Jeeze, you musta been sore from all those 'cramps' after these years eh?' he scratched the shisa under the chin kindly as he hear footsteps aproach. He could possibly be putting himself into trouble but, nevertheless, Taichiji stayed in place. He just hoped for now that the others were out of sight well enough to not be seen.

The twins had nodded and lead Akihito around a dark corner. Quietly, they settled into the darkness to wait.
Chitori rumbled pleasantly as the knot was undone and as he climbed to his feet he felt a small weight suddenly press down on his back.
"You are such a liar, Taichiji," Oshira-sama hissed at Taichiji from her place on Chitori's back, "You promised you wouldn't misbehave and yet look what you've done. My poor Chitori."
She patted the demon's head and Chitori wagged his tail.
"Do you understand nothing?" The kitsune snapped at the blonde and her voice angrily split into the demon's and the girl's.

'Hm? Oh, I understand greatly kitsune. but do you understand?' Taichiji stood to his feet and faced Oshira-sama. 'He had many injuries before, and his wires were crossed and fraying, but I fixed that. I'm sure he feels like a young pup once more now.' He smiled first to Oshira and then to Chitori too with a sincere kindness.

Oshira-sama reached out and placed her hand under Taichiji’s chin, tipping up his head.
“Don’t toy with me.” She commanded seriously, hissing, “You may have fixed him but you have also altered him. You have damaged him more then anything he has had to suffer before and now you will all pay the price.”

' Why all of us?.. I thoguht you wanted to have 'real' friends again. To always have the light. If ANYONE is to suffer,' He looked to the ground and sighed. 'Then.. let it be me.' Leave the others. They did nothing except what your 'game' instructs.'

Oshira-sama shook her head.
"You're very brave to sacrifice yourself," she said, "But Inmu and Yanku escaped me as well and they helped you immobilized Chitori. So they are just as much to blame as you are. As for the light, having 'friends' is not enough. We need the power. If the lights go out then Chitori and the others will no longer be able to move. Their electrical components will freeze and they will die, but have no fear, you will be punished properly, Taichiji."
She giggled.
"You remember Kimotori don't you?" she asked happily, "He's been missing you oh so much."
