Yeah, when I first saw the ending I thought that while the children weren't dead quite yet (their lights were still on) they were going to die in the near future because no one was coming to save them. Return to the Tower was sort of a way to make the ending not so crushing, in that the short went from "they certainly died" to "well maybe if they were lucky and struggled enough they got free".
Also, you're right, Tachiji doesn't seem the type to be a threat...and then he gets mad and watch out! lol

My favorite is Hikora, only problem is that he doesn't know when its a good time to run away. I hate the child taker, weird eyes and too many arms.

I agree. Poor Hikora, so brave and so desperate... I really do feel bad for him.
As for Child taker, she does worry me quiet a lot. After all, she's a spider and I don't like spiders. *shudders*

Yeah, I agree. Hikora was brave along with Yaimao and was determined to searched for his sister, but ended up being the "It" while he watched his friends suffered. It made me wondered if he was heartbroken or miserable at the end.

hm.. yeeh.. I didn't like Hikora's transformation of personality at the end. Too depressed, but.. he did loose everything too so.. it's really twisted and ironic but it suits the cact the character's oni mask at the end is not only a kitsune, but also a hanya! Jeleaous and sad, vengeful oni is what hanya is and.. it works.. o.o.. very much so.

You've got to think of how Sorincha, Hikora, and all the other children who were oni felt as well. I mean, once Oshira took them over did they die a spiritual death or are they still in there, watching as their friends and others are killed?
If they are still alive and aware, then Sorincha had to walk past her dead friends, over and over, and Hikora had to watch Yaimao die... *whimper*
