Kayven nodded and after a moment he licked Xander's ear.
"Thank you for helping me," he said quietly before looking away.

Xander rubbed his head against Kayven and purred before wrapping his tail around him. "I can't imagine not helping you."

Xander rested his head on Kayven and looked around. He eyed the human for a minute, then watched the grass move in the breeze.

Kayven smiled and closed his eyes with Myren gnawed on his carrot. The little knopfleri looked up at the sky and saw big dark clouds over then. He barked and yipped at them as if to scare them away.
Travis looked up.
"Looks like there's going to be a storm," he said, concerned.

Xander lifted his head to look round at Myren. He nuzzled him for a moment, then looked up at the clouds, then at the human. His tail swished.
Noelle finished her piece of carrot and licked her paws. Her ears twitched as she looked around, then she moved over to the males to cuddle with them, not liking the sudden change in the air.

"I think...I think you guys should come with me," Travis said, looking concernedly at the dark storm clouds, "You're not suppose to take wild knopfleri from the forest without a license but there's been a lot of rain up North and they say it's going to flood. I'd...I'd never be able to forgive myself if you guys got swept away."
He got up and retrieved a basket from his bike, putting some carrots in the bottom. He was sure he could get Kayven, Myren and possibly Noelle in the basket but Xander was going to be difficult. Hopefully if most of them got in Xander would follow.
While Travis worked, Kayven twitched his ears and looked around nervously. he licked Noelle's face to calm her. Myren stopped barking but wedged himself between his father and Xander, afraid.

Noelle leaned against Kayven and watched what the giant was doing. Her nose twitched at the smell of both the carrots and the on-coming rain.
Xander kept his attention on Myren. He nuzzled the little male after he'd pushed his way between him and Kayven, then licked his ears to try settle him.

"We...we need to go, Xander," Kayven said, wrapping his tail around Noelle and worriedly looking at his son wedged between himself and Xander, "I have a really bad feeling."
Myren squirmed a bit at Xander's nuzzling, calming slightly but not coming out of hiding.
Travis came back with the basket, laying on it's side so the opening faced the knopfleris.
"Kayven," he said coaxingly, looking at the grey and orange knopfleri, "Come on Kayven, let's go some where safe. I've got some nice carrots for you all, come on."
Thunder rumbled overhead, startling Travis.

Xander looked up at the sky, then at Kayven. "I know..." He tensed at the thunder and the fur on his back raised.
Noelle pressed against Kayven and pawed at his back as though thinking about trying to climb over him to join Myren in hiding.

"...Come on," Kayven said and stood. He picked Myren up by the scruff of the baby's neck and went inside the basket, settling himself down with Myren tucked safely under him. He looked back at Xander and Noelle, begging them to follow him.
Travis had returned to his bike to pack up.

Noelle stood to follow Kayven, her head lowered as though to try hide from the weather. She stopped halfway to the basket and looked back at her father. Her tail curled around her leg while she waited.
Xander looked up at the sky, then at the others. His tail flicked as he glanced towards the human, but he got up and headed over to Noelle, nuzzling her as he nudged her along towards the other two. He placed one paw on the basket and looked around while Noelle climbed in and tried to cuddle with Kayven and Myren for comfort.

Kayven licked Noelle's ears and Myren rubbed against her, encouraging her to climb into the safety of their little furry nest. Kayven looked back at Xander.
"Come on," he said gently, "At least it will keep us out of the rain."

Noelle wriggled in next to Myren and tried to settle down. Her ears twitched while she watched her father and the grass rustling in the wind behind him.
Xander looked up at the sky again and sniffed the air before mumbling something to himself. His tail swished as he took one more look around, then he eventually climbed in with the others, huddling over them to help keep them warm from the wind that seemed to be getting stronger.

"You won't regret this Xander," Kayven whispered, cuddling with Xander and their small family, "I promise."
Travis came back and, seeing that the knopfleri where in the basket, carefully put the lid on and carried it to his bike where he secured it. With the top safely tied down, Travis climbed onto his bike and drove away with the knopfleri.
