Lupin the 3rd RP - Night and Midz

It was the night of the most anticipated musical event of the year. Queen Marta, the elegant singer, would be performing before a gala crowd of the richest people around. The theater was cast in a warm glow, keeping the cold winter air away from the lovely ladies and gentleman who had come for the show.

In one of the middle aisle sat Lupin the 3rd, dressed just an handsomely as the rest in a tux and silk tie. However, while he did like a good classical piece, he was also there because there was something special he wanted to steal.

"Hey, Jigen," he said to his partner causally, "What do you think? Brings back memories hm?"

Lupin was asking because he knew that Marta and Jigen had a history together. A year or so ago, Marta had hired Jigen as a bodyguard during one of her shows. A sniper had managed to strike her in the shoulder while she was on stage, but due to Jigen's quick wits and faster reflexes, Jigen had managed to protect her from the fatal shot to her forehead.

She owed her life to him and had specially requested that he come to tonight's performance.

"Mmm, yeah, well you couldn't help it," Lupin said, looking at his friend, "From what I heard Marta's manager was trying to scare you off, telling you that you weren't needed. Luckily you didn't go, because that's when she got shot the first time. If you had been allowed to be where you were meant to be she wouldn't have gotten shot at all. If it's anyone's fault it's the managers."

Lupin turned his head towards the stage when he saw a glint of something. At the edge of the stage, hidden mostly behind the curtain, Marta stood, smiling softly in Jigen's direction. The flash had been from some of the jewelry she was wearing.

"Well, you certain caught the eye of a lovely woman, almost makes me jealous," Lupin smirked, teasing, "But oh yeah, how did you save her?"

He took a moment to think, making a show of trying to remember as he tapped his lips gently with his finger, "Oh yes, that's right. You fell on her, didn't you?"

He grinned at Jigen.

Lupin snickered and clapped Jigen gently on the back in a friendly way before resettling in his chair. He folded his hands across his belly and relaxed, watching the stage.

"What was it that made you turn away?" he asked, "You haven't seen her for 16 months and after all that happened, I'd kind of expect you to at least have a night with her. I would have if it had been me."

From the stage, Marta vanished to finish getting ready before her performance.

"Things did get kind of dicey there for awhile," Lupin agreed, placing his hands behind his head, "But luckily he will never shoot again, you saw to that. So don't stress about it."


(Just a bit of background info, Marta is from the Lupin movie Jigen gravestone. In that movie she was shot and killed by an assassin while trying to promote peace between her country and a neighboring country (Jigen was hired as her bodygaurd but he was told to take a hike by Marta's manager and so he was to far away to protect her). After that, the assassin tried to hunt down and kill Jigen because the people who hired the assassin thought that Jigen knew what was going on. Lupin got roped into it and Jigen ad to fake his death so the shooter would stop trying to kill him. After that the assassin turn's his attention on Lupin but Lupin and Jigen trick him and manage to shoot him. In a final duel shootout, Jigen manages to shoot the assassin in the arm which damages the limb really badly and makes it so the shooter can't kill anyone anymore. Basically, this RP is taking a loose look at what might have happened if Jigen had been close enough to save Marta.)

Lupin looked down at the case clutched in Jigen's hand. He smiled secretly.

"I'm guessing you really like her then," he said, "But what do you mean 'one last time'? You going to vanish from her life again? Not that you shouldn't, I mean, we are thieves and a thieves' life is no life for a lady but...still..."

He looked at his friend, his mouth pressed into a line. Jigen had a horrible track record with women. If they weren't killed in someway they ended up betraying him, and seeing him so alone for so long was painful.

Still, Lupin had something up his sleeve that would hopefully make Jigen happy. He just needed to steal it.

"Are you going to give it to her at the party?"he asked, mentioning the afterparty they would be having after the concert.

"Ah, I see," Lupin said, smirking, "Don't worry about it. Once I get what I'm looking for I'll be gone and out of your hair. I'm sure she'll love your gift and you can't get a woman's attention more then by saving her life."

He turned his attention away as the lights began to dim, a spot light appearing on stage. The announcer came out and gave a brief speech before he introduced Queen Marta and the curtain was pulled back.

Marta stood in the spot light, looking elegant and beautiful in a classy blue dress with ruffles on the skirt. She was smiling becomingly, her alluring eyes finding Jigen in the crowd before she began to sing, her voice carrying like a bird soaring through the open air.



Lupin whistled, quiet and low, and then was silent, watching the performance.

After Marta finished singing the first song, the notes floating away, the audience clapped enthusiastically for her and she gave a small bow of thanks.

"Thank you," she said politely, "Thank you all for coming out tonight to support the art of music. I am happy to be here and I hope you continue to enjoy the evening. The next song I will be singing is for a special person who means a great deal to me. Without him, I wouldn't be here tonight. Jigen Daisuke, this song is for you."

With that the music began once more and Marta began to sing, her voice melodious and flowing, filled with such a soft, passionate love and longing that people in the audience sighed peacefully and even Lupin blushed.
