"We need to find a new place to stay," Kayven said, cuddling with his small family, "If more bears are coming down from the mountains, we'll need to head south."
Myren purred softly.

Xander "Hmm"'d in response, still thinking things over. His ears twitched. After a while he spoke up, "There's a lake to the south east of here... plenty of food, but a lot of other animals live in the area."
Noelle rubbed up against the adults, then settled down again and looked around.

Kayven sighed and thought it over, worrying about Myren and Noelle being around so many others.

"It's more hills and less water further south..." Xander continued, his eyes closed in thought. "The south west is closer to the countryside, lots of fields and stuff, eventually the shore, but there tends to be more farms and humans along the way."
Noelle looked up at the thorns above them, then spotted the berries higher up though-out the bush. Her tail swished and she looked at Xander, but he still had his eyes closed, so she shifted around a little and sat up to place her front paws on his back for balance. She slowly straightened to stand on her back legs and used her nose to try navigate past any sharp parts so she could maybe reach food.
Xander's eyes opened when he felt someone climbing on him. He watched Noelle from over his shoulder, unable to safely move while she was on his back. "Careful."

"We should stay away from the humans, they cause nothing but trouble," Kayven said strongly, his tail swishing agitatedly back and forth. Myren looked up to see what Noelle was doing, cooing and yipping at her curiously.

Xander nodded in agreement, his gaze still on Noelle. "Any other ideas?"
Noelle placed a paw on Xander's head as she tried to reach further up. Her ears twitched and she glanced at Myren, but was distracted by her rumbling tummy and focused on the berries again. She nudged a stubborn leaf out of her way and touched her nose against a berry. She licked at it, then tried to get hold of it to bring it down.

"Let's head south," Kayven said after he had thought quietly for a few moments, his tail flicking back and forth, "If we can get passed the large lakes perhaps we can find a cave to stay in. Hopefully once the summer comes the bears will move back North."

Xander stayed very still so as not to unbalance Noelle. He closed one eye when her paw got a bit close to it. "Bears tend to move away to hibernate in the winter, Kayven. Do you mean south east past that lake, or south toward the hills?"
Noelle eventually managed to get her teeth around the stem connecting the berries to the bush. She tugged at it until the berries fell. She watched them bounce off Xander's back, then she scrambled after them.

"Past the lake," Kayven said as Myren got up and tumbled after the berries, excited about the food raining from the sky.

Xander shifted slightly to give the youngsters a bit more room. He nodded in response to Kayven. "When do you want to start heading out that way?"
Noelle got her teeth around the stem again and picked up the berries that were still attached to it. About half of them had shaken loose and rolled away. Once she managed to get comfortable, she set them down and licked at one before biting into it. She'd share if Myren wanted some of hers instead of the random ones.

"As soon as we can, I think," Kayven said, "The sooner we get the young ones away from the bears the better."
Myren trotted back it Noelle, a berry caught in his small mouth. He looked please with himself for catching it, as if it had been a mad beast, and he settled besides her to enjoy his prize, licking at the juice with his soft baby tongue.

"We'll need to scout out a safe path first, the lake might have flooded from the last melted snow. And we'll need to decide how we'll move Noelle and Myren around, it'll be a long trip, they aren't big enough to walk the whole way," Xander answered as he watched the children with their berries.
Noelle happily chewed through her share of berries, her tail swished as she licked her paws and washed juice off her face before nibbling at another berry.

Kayven nodded, watching the children. He didn't really want to but them under the strain of such a long journey. Maybe, if they were careful, they could get a ride somewhere.
Myren saw that Noelle had missed a bit of juice on her chin so he tumbled over to her and began to lick her chin with young enthusiasm.
In the distance a roaring machine could be heard, coming closer and closer.

Xander smirked a little at Myren's antics. Then looked out at their surroundings, as much as he could see from their leafy hiding place. His ears twitched.
Noelle laughed and pawed at Myren while he licked her chin.

Kayven looked in the direction that Xander looked, his own ears twitching.
"What's that noise?" he asked, concerned.
