Standing up, Xander smiled and nodded, "It's not too far, we could probably get there before we get hungry again."
His tail swished calmly behind him as he examined the weather, checking for rain clouds, before taking a few steps forward. He glanced back to make sure Kayven was following.

Kayven walked up besides Xander's shoulder, smiling slightly. His tail swayed in time with Xander's and he stayed close, looking around at the trees while they walked. Every few trees he'd sniff around the tree and scratch at the bark.
"So we can find the bush again," he said to Xander, "Just in case."
After marking the latest tree he returned to Xander's side, a light trot in his gait.

Xander observed Kayven's back and forth between trees, he waited patiently whenever the stripey Knopfleri wandered off again. Hopefully at some point, once he'd settled into life in the wild, the other male would need less markings to help him.
Noting his friend was beside him once more, the brown and green Knopfleri nodded and picked up the pace a bit.

Kayven loped after Xander, trying to keep close. Then he heard something in the trees breath heavily, asif a giant animal had sighed, and stopped in his tracks. He tilted his head, listening.
"Did you hear that?" he asked Xander, looking for whatever animal was out there.

Pausing, Xander looked around, his ears twitching alertly as his tail picked itself up and swished to disturb the air around him. He sniffed any scents his tail blew his way.
"Probably not a good idea to stick around to find out what it was," he cautioned, watching the trees warily. He turned his head to check on Kayven, "Stay close."

Kayven nodded and moved next to Xander. His ears were pricked and his tail was making its way between his legs, worried and slightly frightened of the whatever that was out there.

Tail lashing about as he put on a show of confidence to warn any enemies away, Xander nudged Kayven with his forehead, trying to lead him forward. His ears twitched for any sound that might give away danger.

Kayven walked quickly but calmly out of the area with Xander. He didn't want to run in case the something was enticed by his running form and he kept his ears back, making sure Xander was still besides him.

Xander walked close to Kayven, brushing against the stripey Knopfleri just to keep track of him as he glanced back to see if anything was following them.
As soon as he was sure there was enough of a space between them and whatever had made the noise, he nudged his friend again and picked up the pace, hopping over a rock, ears twitching, and headed towards the sound of water.

Kayven followed, climbing over the rock. He could hear the sound of water as well and some of his excitement returned. Tail up and ears perked he chased after Xander.
Then they cleared the trees and a large, beautiful lake lay before them.
"Wow!" Kayven exclaimed happily, looking at the large mass of wonderful cool and clear water, "It's so...wonderful!"

Smiling warmly, Xander watched Kayven then looked around, breathing in the nice breeze. He walked over to the waters edge, calm and relaxed now, with his tail swaying behind him as he dipped one his front paws into the water.
He splashed about for a moment, enjoying the feeling of the water on his fur, then he looked back at his stripey friend, "Is it what you hoped it be?"

"It's more, so much more," Kayven said from the bank, his eyes wide in awe, "I never thought it would be quite so huge."
Carefully, the knopfleri walked down to the water's edge and sniffed the water curiously. He touched it with his paw and watched a few small fish swim past. He hoped back.
"What are those?' he asked, surprised as he looked at thfish.

Xander peered at the water to find out what had startled Kayven, watching the fish swim about, he laughed.
"Those are fish," he explained patiently, "they live in water. They don't do much, but they taste alright if you're quick enough to catch one. Fun to chase, too. "

Kayven returned to the water's edge and tried to sniff the fish when they came close to the surface. His little nose wiggled curiously. The he lead forward to far and fell into the water with a splash. He came up coughing and shook himself, spraying water all over and sending drops flying like rain into the lake.
A fish nibbled with a soft, toothless mouth on his tail and he looked back, concerned.
"They don't bite, do they?" he asked.

"They can do, but it doesn't usually hurt, they don't have teeth like we do," Xander replied, wading into the water, his turtle-like back markings making him look right at home as he splashed about a bit.
He walked over to Kayven, giving him a brief lick to smooth down some of his fur and make sure he wasn't too cold from going under the surface.
